About The Birth Collaborative LV

BCLV formed to cultivate a strong professional birth workforce and community, supported and supporting the next generation the Birth Care Workforce.

We came together to build Birth Collaborative LV to provide Midwifery Care centering individuals who identify as to birthing people of the global majority.

Our work uses the Birth Justice Framework with a Reproductive Justice lens, and always always community-based, community centered, and community focused.

Focused. Integrated. Accessible.

Birthing people in Clark County have many choices in birth location and providers; Homebirth, Birth Centers, and Hospitals, OB's, Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM), Certified Professional Midwives (CPM), and Community Midwives. There are also many Doulas, Lactation Professionals, and Allied Health Professional working for birthing people in our state.

What we've been missing is access to Care Providers who are from Black and Brown communities SERVING Black and Brown communities.

As Providers, we believe in the wisdom and effectiveness of the birthing body. As Black Midwives we focus on preserving and protecting the natural birth process while nourishing, educating, and supporting our birthing folks. Because we know what it is like to birth in Black bodies and work in a medical system that harms its providers and patients. We wanted and needed better.
Better for Black mamas, birthing people, families, our community and ours families. That is how BCLV began.
